Gmail gets intelligent
Mumbai: You can now manage your Gmail settings in a much more smarter way. Try out the three intelligent ways in which you can make your Gmail intelligent than before:
You can know if your recipient has received your mail
Many a times it so happens that you don’t receive a response to your mails. Recipients sometimes try to ignore or even pretend that they haven’t received your email. But now, you can track whether your mail recipient has received your email and most importantly, read it too.
Similar to WhatsApp, a single green tick will let you know that your mail recipient has received it and double ticks help you know whether he/she has read it.
However this feature is available on Chrome only, as an extension. All you need to do is just download theMailTrack extension, and Gmail within Chrome will let you know if your recipient has read your mail accordingly.
Additionally, you can also be notified when the email was delivered and read (how many minutes, hours or days later was the email delivered and read) and also the location where the email was opened (it only gives out the information of the country and not the exact geo-location of where the user was at the time of opening the mail).
Though the location notification could be a boon to your family and friends, this could be a potential threat to your privacy—spammers could track your location by simply sending you an email.
Schedule an email to send later
Similar to email clients, it is now possible to schedule your emails too. However, to enable the scheduling feature for Gmail, you need to install Boomerang extension for Chrome. Once installed, simply click on the ‘Send Later’ button.
Use the handy calendar picker which also includes options like ‘next Monday’ to tell Gmail when to send out your mail. Using this feature, you can now send emails days in advance. This feature can benefit personal and official mails when on vacation or on business trips.
Boomerang can remind you if you don't hear back from your recipient
There are times you need to make sure you follow up within a specific time frame after sending a message. You can choose to select particular mails to be reminded if nobody replies back or regardless.
